To the readers of this blog,

So this summer really did me in. It was non stop action and I was pulled in many different directions, none of which was toward reading.

I talked with Hilcia about this already, but now I wanted to put it out there to my readers. As of right now, I'm considering going on a hiatus. I don't have the time to read and update the blog the way I would like. I originally brought on Hilcia to help me out with this problem and she did a great job. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to help her out and fell off with my reading and reviews, for which I feel stressed and horrible about.

Over the last month I have been able to finish up the books that I had prior commitments to, and the reviews for those will be going up all this month. I also have a few reviews for Book Binge that I will be passing on to Holly.

I know that you all enjoy Hilcia and her reviews. If you don't already know, you can find her at her own lovely blog, Impressions...

As for the future of Musings of a Bibliophile, at this point, I'm just not sure.

  1. Oh Brie it's completely understandable. Sometimes life just gets in the way of fun. Doesn't that just suck?

Take some time for your life and get some "YOU" time. We'll be here when you get back.

    {{Big Hug}}

  2. Thank you for everything, Brie. It has been a pleasure for me to have had the opportunity to contribute to one of my favorite blogs.

We want you back, so take care of yourself!

  3. Brieeeeeeee! Oh no! But I so know how it feels when life just races forward like crazy. I agree - take care of yourself, do what you need to do, and if you come back to your blog, people will be here. Or if you don't, well, maybe you can just rediscover the joy of reading without obligations hanging over your head. I will always be indebted to you for many books, such as the SILENT IN THE... series.

Take care!! Hopefully see you around at some point.

  4. Brie, take some time off. :) Whatever you do, don't wrap your blog - not yet. Look back at your blog in 1 or 3 or 5 months, then decide.

I've stopped blogging for 3 months now and it has done wonders for my reading. I've trimmed my TBR from 140 to 90 in 2.5 months. Not worrying about blogging is so freeing. :)

Enjoy your books. Enjoy your life.

  5. (((Brie))) I agree - take a break, we'll still be here for you when you're ready to come back. :) And even if you don't have time to blog you can still come visit us. Don't be a stranger. We miss you when you're not around.

Blogging can get stressful when RL needs become overwhelming. Concentrate on you and your family. Take care of yourself Brie. :)

  6. Thank you everyone! Your kind words mean so much to me right now. It was really hard for me to decide to take a break, but knowing that I've got the support of you fantastic people, makes it a little easier. <3

I'm hoping that my time off will help relieve the stress that has built up in regards to maintaining this blog. And maybe my passion for reading will find me again. I really miss it.

Tracy, Yes, some time for myself without the worry of blogging and deadlines will do me some good.

P.S. I tried posting this comment twice in firefox and it didn't go up. Now I clearly see the bone you've been picking with the embedded comments.

Hils, You are the best! I can't thank you enough for being the huge help you were to me. Seriously, the pleasure was all mine.

Carolyn, Rediscovering the joy of reading sounds real good right now.

Jace! The dent that you've made in your TBR pile is really inspiring. If I can find my reading mojo again like you have while on hiatus, it will be well worth it.

Leslie. :) I will definitely be checking you all out. I still do, but rarely comment. I'll have to start doing that again.

  7. (((( Brie )))) I totally understand what it's like to be unsure about continuing with blogging. I went through that a few times myself over the last several months. Blogging should be fun and rewarding... if you're feeling stressed over it or pressured to follow through with posting, then it's losing its purpose, you know? So by all means, if it's not working out for you right now, then follow your heart and take a hiatus. Of course, we'll miss you, but knowing you're doing what makes you happy, makes us happy. It sounds sappy, but it's true!

  8. Awww, Brie, I'll miss you!! but hey, if that's what it takes for you to find your reading and blogging mojo again, then cool :)

  9. I've so been there, Brie. If you need one, you should absolutely take a break. You don't want this to become a chore or an obligation. It's supposed to be fun.

I'll definitely miss you, but take some time and come back fresh.

Oddly enough, whenever I claim to be going on a hiatus, inspiration strikes. Maybe the same will happen to you?

  10. Christine, Nath, Holly. Thank you all for the support!

  11. I love your blog, Brie. Take whatever time you need so it's a pleasure again and you feel rejuvenated. Like they said above, we'll be here!
