After all, no other woman really qualifies. Lisette, the outspoken daughter of the Duke of Gilner, cares nothing for clothing or decorum. She's engaged to another man, and doesn't give a fig for status or title. Half the ton believes Lisette mad - and Villiers is inclined to agree.

Torn between logic and passion, between intelligence and imagination, Villiers himself drawn to the very edge of impropriety. Born into Florence's most illustrious Renaissance family, no one could match her for beauty, scheming, ambition, and cunning. Catherine de Medici's story is one of decadence and wealth. Making powerful enemies and powerful friends, she held France together as the Wars of Religion tore Europe apart, and her successor hailed her as "one of France's greatest kings."

  1. Don't know if you're a Marjorie Liu fan, but she has two releases today. Huntress (an anthology) and Darkness Calls (2nd Book of Hunter Kiss series).

  2. Hi, Mariana. I've only read one short story by Marjorie Liu. I believe it was the pre-quel to the Hunter Kiss series, (UF, right?. It was included in an anthology. It was really good!

I have her on my list of authors to try in the future. :)

Black Hills was okay. Solid, but not her best.

  6. BBF has been released here in some places... on the West Coast, etc. I'll wait, it's worth it, I think *g*

I'm glad the Roberts' was a solid read for you. She has so many great books, I think it gets tough competing with herself, lol!

  7. I have a list of 14 that I want for this month. Too many to list. Branded with Fire is surprisingly not one of them. I don't know what it is, but Singh doesn't work for me. I definitely want Burn and I have been hearing really great things about Quinn's latest.

  8. Hi, JillD. Burn looks great! I love Linda Howard, and I'm definitely reading the Quinn. Although, it's been a while since I read her books...

I love this series by Singh, but I'm sure it's not for everyone. :)

    Enjoy your 14 reads!
